Love Fossil watches.

Also, sure is hard to find a good strap sometimes.  So many are ugly.

Bulova is having 30% off all watches on their website.

They have some really interesting watches.  I own the Chronograph C “Stars and Stripes”.  Very funky watch.

I would love to get one of their “Devil Divers” or their “Surfboard” chronographs.

I even like their Computron re-issue.  It was a watch from the 70s that’s a little on the weird side, but I love it!  I think it might be my next watch.

My Fossil FB-01 HR arrived on Thursday (the Pepsi one is scheduled to arrive next week.)

A couple of minor disappointments. First off, the bezel is stationary. My Crewmaster has a working timekeeping bezel, and I found that to be a handy little feature on occasion.  I just assumed that the FB-01 HR would have a working bezel as well, but it doesn't. Second disappointment: only the hands have lume.  On my Crewmaster, the markers have lume, and the zero point on the bezel has a luminescent bead as well. On this one, just the hands.

That aside, it's pretty nice. It has a lot more smartwatch functionality than the Crewmaster, including the e-paper display.  The e-paper dial is nice. From pictures I had worried that it might not be very dark, but in person it's definitely black and not grey, and sufficiently black that it looks like a painted black dial.  The hands and markers are super visible and very easy to read. The overall look is classy.  I'm still experimenting with the heartrate monitor and the notifications, but being able to read a text message without taking out my phone is neat.

I do like the overall appearance of my Crewmaster better, and I also find the Nato straps I've put on my Crewmaster more comfortable (if I put a Nato strap on the FB-01 HR, it would block the heartrate sensor, which needs to be in contact with your skin.)  I wish that they made a version of the FB-01 HR that has a bit of color like the Crewmaster has:

You sure hate silicone straps!!! ???

My Momentum dive watch has a silicone strap.  They infused it with vanilla so it smells nice!   ;D

I find silicone straps feel weird for some reason. I don't know why.  I prefer cloth or leather.  My favorite strap I have is a leather Nato style strap that feels so comfortable.

I didn't know much about Momentum, I checked out their website and they have some neat things. I liked the black diver watch with the markers that look like shark teeth. I also like the lume on this field watch.

I picked up this guy during the big sale week...

Jack Mason Halyard GMT.  It also comes in a ‘Pepsi’ bezel, but I went with the colourful teal and orange.

I like the colors on that! When I was ordering my Fossils, I thought about getting this one instead of the Pepsi, but it cost $50 more. I love the orange chapter ring against the blue dial.

I have one rubber strap, and I like it.  I do prefer leather, or even metal.  But on my dive watch, it works well.

I tried to like NATO straps...  I just can’t, for some reason.  I do keep one watch on a NATO, but more for the fun factor than I because I like how it feels.  I call it my “MAGA” watch, cuz it’s a big red/white/blue dial with a red/white/blue strap.  I like to see the look on people’s faces when I say I wear it for Trump.

They have some great watches, and they’re very robust.  They are starting to really stray from their diver roots, which isn’t a bad thing.  I just hope they retain their quality with their other watches as well.

They’re a popular watch company on the Island, it seems...  I think that started with the SCUBA community, at least that’s how I first heard of them.  They’ve been around for 40 years, I think I’ve read...  so they’re not just some kickstarter company that will dissapear.

I own 2 Momentum’s (soon 3).  Their field watch (Flatline) is my most worn watch, just because I can wear it during any activity without worrying about it.  It’s very sturdy.

I like the splash of colour too.  The metal bracelet is great;  comfortable and stylish with a mix of brushed and polished steel.  It’s a GMT watch, so has a 4th hand that follows the 24 hour bezel set to whatever time zone you want.  If I ever leave my time zone again, it will come in handy!   ;D

I didn't notice that before!  I have heard of "GMT watches" but didn't know what it meant until you pointed out the 4th hand.

The bezel is a 24 hour bezel, rather than 60 minutes like a dive watch is.  I’ve been looking for one for a while.  Jack Mason makes decent watches at a really reasonable price.  Plus, they stand behind a lifetime warranty, which is unheard of for watches, as far as I know.  Made in Texas!  If you look closely, the seconds hand has a red/white/blue end on all their watches as an homage to the Lone-star State.

My "Pepsi" arrived today!

Like the smartwatch, it has a non-functional bezel. :(  On the bright side, the hands and markers all have rich lume. Even the seconds hand has a tiny dot of functioning lume. It'll be a great watch to wear while I'm kayaking; it'll be very easy to read regardless of the conditions (unlike the digital Casio which has been my water watch... built like a tank but you have to actually look at it to read the time.) It also has a little fish-eye lens in the glass over the date, as you can see in the picture. I have mixed feelings about that. It's kind of neat, but when the minutes hand is under the lens it's a little funky.

The watch looks terrific, and the bracelet is very nice (I will have to remove a whole bunch of links before I can use it, though.)   It's disappointing that with all the other nice things about the watch, they didn't go the one step farther and put a real bezel on it.  Maybe they figured "only watch snobs care about the bezel, and watch snobs don't buy Fossil watches anyway."   Which is a shame, because once I learned how to use the timekeeping bezel on my Crewmaster, I used it quite a bit. It's much handier than setting a timer on your smartwatch or cellphone.  I'm not sure how much a functioning bezel would have added to the cost of these watches, and maybe it would have bumped it out of the price point they were aiming for.   But to me it seems like a glaring omission on what would otherwise be a nice alternative to more expensive watches.

That’s the difference with the “fashion brands” sometimes.

But, it’s not limited to them either...  my Tissot Racing-Touch (a hybrid digital and analogue watch) inexplicably has a 60 minute bezel that doesn’t turn either.  I got it because it has a tide function, although, to be honest, it’s not the most useful function either.  It has to be reset on a pretty constant basis.

I still like the watch.  Has multiple time zones, countdown, timer, alarm, etc, so is very functional.  And it’s a tank.

Save your pennies and get this one:

$200
Momentum Jellyfish. 38mm, so not ladies’ sizes small, but not huge either.

BTW, the magnified date window is very Rolex-esque and makes sense for your Fossil homage to Rolex.  I like it.

Haha!  Magenta!

There is a black bezel and a teal bezel as well.  Also, a black dial too.

I like dive watches with colourful bezels!  I would wear the magenta!

Hey guys! Great thread!

I have a bunch of watches, and I even have a watch winder for automatic/self-winding ones. I also have a small collection of pocket watches, but most are not in perfect working order (a couple are though).

I have a Hamilton wristwatch from 1951, given to my great uncle for 25 years of service with Crown Cork & Seal Co. It's gold---solid not plated. It's probably worth a fortune. It's small for a man's watch, but in the 50s I think men's watches were smaller.

Bought a refurbed Russian watch that says made in USSR (in Russian)....and the friggin minute hand fell off. :( I'll have to get some pictures of the ones I have.

Hi again, Super Colin-Blow! Long time no see!

Russian watch is STRONG like tractor!

As I've been searching for bargains on ebay I keep finding these "Vostok" brand watches from Russia. The styling is so odd that I have considered buying one just for the WTF factor.

I bought a couple of Russian watches at a Frankfurt flea market in 92. The Soviet Union had cratered and the Berlin wall had only been down for three years and this stuff was flooding Germany. One had an army and the other had a navy logo. They were manually wound and didn't last very long. Can't remember what happened to them. You could also find a lot of it in Anchorage at that time as Alaskan and some Russian carriers had started running flights between Anchorage, Petropavlovsk and Magadan.

That gold Hamilton makes me envious. I was looking at a new 18C gold case Tissot automatic with a leather strap and it was over 4k. Hamilton is a higher end watch than Tissot.
