Hi-tech!  :)

 -k

Low tech but very useful. It does a lot of things and some of them quicker than you could do with any phone app. The other side is for wind calculations. You can plot your wind and desired course and it will give you a heading to make good that course, drift angle and ground speed.

Me too. First thing in the morning I like to guess the time before looking at the clock
I do this when I wake up in the middle of the night, usually get it within about 15 minutes.

I've never worn a watch much, so have nothing pretty to show off.  I got a fitbit about a year ago, for its sleep/heart/step measurements, rarely look at it for time checks, but pretty often to find out day/date.  And to read text messages.

I'm enjoying everyone else's watches though.

I got another watch...   this one is a bit dressy, with a 70s vibe to it.  Received it the other day, and I’m pleased with it.  It’ll look good in ‘dressy’ situations (I haven’t had many of those lately though....)

It’s a Seiko Recraft with an automatic movement.  It’s square and has a brown sunburst effect dial.  The green and blue faces are pretty cool too.  It’s a pretty good bargain for what you get, I think.

Nice looking watch. I've often thought I would like an Omega Constellation but I never go anywhere nice enough to wear one.

The black and gold version of that watch is stunning.

Speaking of pocket watches, I have my grandfather's silver pocket watch

Made by Thos Russell & Sons, Liverpool with a Swiss movement

Silver mark dates it at 1897. Works fine.

Any pics?  Sounds nice!   I have a cheap Cardinal windup pocket watch that belonged to my dad, but he was cheap...  so it’s nothing fancy.  The crystal is ****.  Scratches way too easy.   The movement is a Raketa 2609.ha which is supposed to be a fine movement.    Apparently, made in the Soviet Union.  I think he got it from a crewman on a freighter he met at the bar. Don’t know if he bought it, was gifted it or stole it...   hard to say with that guy!

You can get one for 40 bucks on eBay.

I could take some and try and post them. I'll have to shine it up first. That's the problem with silver.

I took a quick look online and prices seem all over the map for the old Russells, anywhere from a hundred Pounds to a thousand.

I can tell the office when I'll be back to the dock and often arrive within a minute or two just by looking at where I am. I seem to have this time and location gps/plotter in my head after driving the same routes for a couple decades. I read humans evolved a mental geographic information system that can deal with around 150 odd place-names. I can give you distances and time-to-go to all sorts of rocks, islands and other waypoints almost automatically. As for things like birthdates and anniversaries though I'd be lost without my wife.  She can tell you what time it was when her 2nd cousin's baby was born. It's phenomenal.
