I like the metal shown in the original photo but I prefer metal anyway. The other one might grow on me though.

I bought my first watch with an automatic movement.   Got a good deal on a Momentum MH30 dive watch with an “open heart” that shows the movement through the face.   300 metre water resistance.  Not a Rolex (or a Longines)  :P , but they have a good reputation and they’re built well.  Japanese (Seiko) movement.  Rotating bezel.  It’s pretty big, but I have a decent sized wrist, so it’s not too bad.  And dive watches are usually a bit bigger.

I’m really liking it.

I also own one of their Quartz field watches, the Flatline Pro and have really liked it.  I have friends who’ve owned a couple Momentum dive watches and they’ve really liked them.

That is a nice looking watch. Do you use a rotating bezel much, I use them all the time?

Thanks.  I really like it.  It’s a bit of an oddball wth the window on the face.

if I need to time something, I will.  What do you use yours for?

Last time I used a rotating bezel was on my old Citizen (I think it was a Citizen...  it’s long gone now...). dive watch 20+ years ago for...  get this... SCUBA diving!  Weird, eh?  Using a dive watch for actually diving!

I use it any time I want to keep track of when I started something.

I think the window is a great feature. I love mechanical things.

I can see using that often as well...   but only the one watch I won has one.  I own use the chronograph function on other watches though quite often.

Yeah, it has a “neat” factor, but I’ve only seen them on more dressy watches.

My wife has a dressy automatic with a glass back. Neat but you have to take it off to look at it.

I'm still wearing my Fossil Crewmaster analog smart-watch. It doesn't have the same mystique as a high end watch, but I think it captures the spirit. It also combines some smart-watch functionality with a classic look and you don't look like a nerd like Apple Watch people do.  I have been thinking about getting one of the new Fossil HR smart-watches. The HR watches have analog hands, but also have an "e-paper" face that can display information (like your last notification or a text message). An e-paper display uses much less power than an LCD display, so the battery life is far better than a regular smart watch.

I have owned Fossil accessories for a long time.

Fossil Crewmaster-- I have Nato straps for mine, one leather and one black/orange.

I like the look of the bright coloury one.

Yeah, it has a bit of pizzazz that the other ones are lacking. It was also available with a deep blue face and strap, which was my first choice, but it was sold out so I got the one with the colorful accents.

I also have a Citizen Nighthawk in Havana brown that I got in a heist on eBay a few years back. The brown version is apparently hard to find. The knob at the 8 o'clock position turns the slide-rule thingy inside the bezel.  It can be used to perform calculations that pilots might want to do. The manual had instructions but I've forgotten how to use it-- it's mostly a novelty, I can't imagine a situation where I'd need to use it.  The picture doesn't do justice to how beautiful this watch is, but I seldom wear it-- my Fossil is more comfortable and convenient.

This is my other Momentum watch.  A Flatline Pro.  (Quartz movement).  I like its simplicity.  I put a black/red NATO strap on it.

I haven't worn a watch since the early 80s.  I just keep time in my head.

Me too. First thing in the morning I like to guess the time before looking at the clock (I never use an alarm either). I'm usually very close. Sometimes I get it right to the minute.
But it helps that my dog pees on schedule and makes sure I get up.
