We started decorating 2 years ago. But we agreed on no presents this year and are sticking to it: no presents given or received.... aw.... one exception is my niece. But none of the 6 nephews is getting presents...
Why would you turn them off?
There must be something you're not telling us, because that sounds like a recipe for unrest. Shes six and they are all in their thirties? We don't do presents either. Or cards, this year.
Probably not as important with LED’s but it was with the old power eating incandescents.
What's that ? $20 in power bills ?Can you tell I'm bad with money ?
She's 3... the nephews are evenly spaced from 10 to 18 with an additional 6 year old. The 6 year old may be getting something from his parents, I'm not sure.
Of course, because there is no longer any heat being generated by lighting in my home, the gas furnace will have to run more to make up the difference. Life is full of contradictions.
Not much for sentimentality, are you?
We will be together, talking and telling stories.
I dunno. I guess it's how you are raised. For us, the toyland around the Christmas tree was a major part of our childhood Christmases, so we have kept it up. It's inconceivable to us not to give presents to each other and to the kids.

We have done that every year but this year we're trying this.
