Not good.  Not terrible.  Certainly my wife has a big smile on her face as she is off for the summer :)

Will the transit culture updates be replaced with daytime TV culture updates?

Possibly, yes.

I was actually thinking today that the transit scene is getting kind of old... and now I don't have to bother with it for awhile.

:(  sorry to hear it, Michael.  Best wishes in finding your next gig.

For me it has been a paradox that when I'm out of work I've been too stressed and too broke to enjoy my free time as much as I could, but when I'm employed I always find myself wishing I had more free time to enjoy.

I used to be that way.  You need to save a little, is all.

Mrs. Hardner, though, just got her first gig as a full-time teacher after 5 years working through the system so we are good.

That's good.  I was laid off twice in life, and both times I was single.  It scarred me so bad I said I would never work for one company again and I've been self-employed for about 10 years now.  There is still up and down but not as scary as when a full-time employer lays you off.

Have you considered going into self-employed contract work?

I am self-employed and incorporated.  Wife is full-time with benefits and we have zero debt and savings.

We are not home owners, however having seen the housing market go apeshit bananas makes me unwilling to sacrifice stress for a few extra rooms.  Friends of ours have housing costs of $6K per month, mortgage and property taxes.

That is crazy.  We pay $1100 for a fine apartment.

Oh good, it's perfect when one of you has the benefits and the other can take the tax advantages.

Housing did get stupid over there the last 5-6 years, here it started about 12 years ago.  A lot of the people who were waiting for the crash got left out of the market forever, but on the flip side those who bought recently are completely over extended.

Good for you for not doing that.

As it started to climb, I was kicking myself for not buying.  But I had to put Mrs. H through university, then pay off debt then get her started... by the time we had a downpayment it was just silly already.  We have a friend who is a real estate agent, and I had to tell him to leave us be.

Phone is ringing.  Meeting a guy tomorrow who is dangling a $15/hr raise if I go with the company he represents.

Went to a patio with the wife, sister-in-law and niece visiting from Calgary.  Kensington Market on a weekday is very nice.  Beer, dubbles and fries :)
