Michael's experience with unemployment sounds like a non-stop party.

My experiences with unemployment have generally consisted of non-stop stress over money mixed with periodic bouts of thinking about turning to a life of crime.

I think he is probably old enough to retire if he wants to and has considerably more resources than a younger person.
