That sounds like something that would happen to me. You did the right thing. Stick to it and play the best practice card.
If I had the authority, there's one of them I would've fired before her 3-month probation was up. Now she's been here over a year and we're stuck with her.
It's a pretty dysfunctional workplace and we had been working on that, but she mostly just brought more dysfunction to the table.
At least management is finally taking some note and action.
