I have a bad feeling that if the Jets don't bounce back and win tonight, it could be a four game sweep for St.Louis.

And then this thread will sit, cold, for months and months.

This Binnington chap seems to be doing very well for the Blues.

After 62 wins in the regular season, which is absurd, the Tampa Bay Lightning are now 0-2 in their series against Columbus, which is also absurd.  They better get their **** together or this will go down as one of the biggest playoff flops of all time.

Terrible goaltending by the Jets’ goalie yesterday.

The Jets finally **** Mr Binnington, in a big way.   Very good game for the Jets.

Meanwhile the Tampa Bay Lightning are on the brink of elimination.  The Columbus Blue Jackets had never won 3 playoff games in the same year before, and now they've done it against a team that had a historically great season.  The Lightning are in huge trouble.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are also in huge trouble, down 3-0 in their series against the Islanders.  The Islanders actually had the better season, but the Penguins are perennial powerhouses and it seems strange seeing them on the verge of being swept in the first round.

I got pretty **** up for this game...had about 8 drinks. Love my screwdrivers.

Having said that, the Jets are going to put the beat-down on the Blues.

Stay tuned for updates...

PS...Columbus swept Tampa Bay, winning their first playoff series in franchise history.

Jets win in overtime to even the series!

Islanders sweep Crosby and the Penguins!  Jordan Eberle and Robin Lehner were dynamite for the Islanders.

And most shocking-- maybe one of the biggest shocks in hockey history-- the Columbus Blue Jackets completed their sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning.  The Lightning had a record-tying 62 wins in the regular season, but couldn't win a single game in the playoffs.

I only caught the final few minutes of the game, but BOBROVSKY WAS EVERYWHERE!!  :o

With the score 4-3 and over 2 minutes to go, the Lightning pulled the goalie for an extra attacker! The pressure was on! It was a shooting gallery, but Bobrovsky held the line! And the Blue Jackets scored empty net goals to seal it.

Bobrovsky! You're the top cop on the force!

Lots of talk about Ovechkin knocking out a young Russian player in a fight.   Unfortunately, there is a risk with fighting...   the guy should’ve stayed out of it.  It was clear it was a mutual decision to fight...  he even threw some decent punches...   but, as Don Cherry says, if you mess with the bull, you’re going to get the horn.

I have all Blues and Capitals players in my hockey pool.  If these teams get into the 2nd round, I am pretty much guaranteed to win it.

At least you did not go all in with the Lightning.

Coincidentally I was recently trying to find out the origin of that phrase and whether the version I first heard, "If you **** the bull, you get the horn", was the original. Inconclusive results though. It didn't really come to prominence until the teacher in the Breakfast Club said it to Judd Nelson. That was the "mess with" version.

But Vegas scares me and I don't like Vegas, even though they're comparatively stacked with Winnipeg boys. I don't want to see them win the cup. They need to pay some dues first. And Vegas as a city is gross and repulsive.

Apparently Ovechkin has only had around five fights in his entire NHL career. Now we know why.

Great game in Denver last night. Quite enjoyed it. Hopefully Calgary can pull one off tonight. They will have to play a hell of a lot better than they did on Monday.

People think of Ovechkin as a great sniper and forget that he's also a 6'3, 240+ pound wall of muscle. He's a beast.  I read that the kid he fought was 190 pounds. An absolute specimen in his physical prime fighting an 18 year old who's 50 pounds smaller than him is just a terrible mismatch and it's no wonder he got hurt.

Jets evened the series at 2-2, and will now come back home for Game 5, in what will likely be a very noisy Bell MTS Place.  The Jets may be able to pull off this series.  In other news. the Hurricanes look to even their series against Washington, while Vegas will try and the San Jose Sharks packing with a win.
