The wife has booked our December vacation and the winner is...

India!

Things I have learned so far:

1) Air Canada has a direct flight from YVR to Delhi which is only 14 hours. Awesome.

2) We're going to two national parks so the chances of seeing a tiger and leopard are pretty good.

3) The Taj Mahal is being renovated and is surrounded by more garbage than I can find in the bush in redneckville next to where I live.

4) Wife wants to go to a Kama Sutra temple!  My wife is also a yoga instructor so ooh la la! Chakra checking time....

5) We will probably be eating too much vegetarian but that's ok because India has the best vegetarian food.

6) We will probably be dry at various times - I am concerned that the accumulated hangover may kill us...

7) We are going for 30 days which is a long long time to use squat toilets.

8 )In the south we visit: Kochi, Kalpetta, Mudumalai, Mysore, Mamallapuram, Puducherry, Madurai, Alleppey.

9) In the north we visit: Delhi, Varanasi, Khajuraho, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Rawla Jojawar, Udaipur.

Should be a grand adventure.

One day I got into a very extended conversation with a Microsoft call-centre technician stationed in India.  He said if I ever visit, he highly recommends this:

http://www.the-maharajas.com/

I checked it out while we were on the phone and he was so excited about it, I told him I definitely would check it out I ever make it to India (I would love the vegetarian foods, personally).

So, msj, keep it in mind and if you end up on it, please come back and let me know so I can live vicariously through you.

That looks awesome.

On two tours so will not have time to do that.

But will get a day time train ride while in the South.

Not as luxurious as that and, I'm hoping, will be closer to third class as that's the type of travel I prefer. I like getting close to the people, stink and all.

I'm jealous.  I bought a Sea-Doo, so I have to cut down a bit until I finish paying for it.

I love this time of year as my work load gets light and I have weekends off to do things.

Saturday was a day trip to Salt Spring Island to check out the market (found lion's mane mushrooms), get some craft beer (grumblers of IPA and Porter) and a drive up to Mt. Maxwell which was extremely fun (4 by 4ing - although easy does it since it is a car rather than a jeep).

Then today went to Mt Washington and spent a few hours hiking around paradise meadows, feeding the whisky jacks some suet, and keeping the squirrels at bay.

Tourists in our own backyard.

I finally got around to a project I had been wanting to do.  I used some old barnboard to make signs of all the places I've travelled.  They are on 3 different trees around our big firepit out back.  I will be adding Greece to them next year  :)

Well, Westjet was practically giving away Mexico City, so, I decided to take the dive.

An 8 day trip at a budget hotel (well rated) in April came to $1200 for two people.

I’m not sure what happened to him - he hasn’t logged in here in months, and it worries me.

So, I bought a 4 day trip to Vegas for Kayla's birthday, since she's 21.
