The NFL is the only sport I can think of where one team might not get an opportunity to score in extra time. CFL overtime rules are much better.

Overtime rules in the NFL suck.

Yeah, what the Patriots have done in the past decade plus is unprecedented in football (and pretty much any sport I think), and Tom Brady is a big part of it. Somehow he just wins.  He's like a mythical figure from legends.

MEANWHILE IN CANADA!

Ottawa quarterback Trevor Harris played what might be the best playoff game a CFL quarterback has ever played.   29 completions on 32 attempts! That's insane! 90.6% accuracy is a CFL playoff record. Six touchdown passes! That's insane too! That's also a CFL playoff record.  And 367 yards and no interceptions.

367 yards isn't actually extraordinary by CFL standards... Harris himself threw for 457 yards in his only previous playoff game. But that was in a losing effort, and the reason he had to throw all those passes is that his team was behind and trying to catch up.  In this game they were comfortably in front for most of the game and he had the luxury of picking his shots.  Which he did. 29 completions on 32 attempts is absurd!  In a preseason game against 2nd-string players, maybe. In a regular season against the worst team in the league, maybe. In a divisional final? It's ridiculous!  The only way you could do better is if the defensive players were just sitting on the bench.  The defensive players had 32 chances and could only break up 3 passes. They should feel very, very badly about this.

One year later, almost to the day, Trevor Harris does it again, this time as Edmonton's quarterback instead of Ottawa's.  He had another game for the ages, getting 36 completions on 39 attempts for 421 yards.  He opened the game with 22 straight completions in the first half. 22 straight completions is a playoff record, and one short of the CFL regular season record as well. 36 completions on 39 attempts is completely ludicrous at any time, nevermind  the playoffs!

Seattle Sounders win the MLS Cup this weekend.   Glad to see it....   sad that the Whitecaps are useless though.

The Whitecaps don’t want to spend the money on marquee players.

They sold a great one...  and then pocketed the cash.

Andrew Harris is killing it in the 1st half of the Grey Cup....    go Bombers?

I remember watching Harris play for the VI Raiders.   Great to see him playing this well.   Sad the Lions got rid of him.

Hope the Bombers can hang on. Haven't liked Hamilton since Angelo Mosca took out Willie Fleming in the 63 Cup.

After watching the Tiger Cats crush the Eskimos last week I thought they would be very tough to beat, but the Blue Bombers gave them a huge beating.  That was seriously impressive.

A lot of people find a game like that boring... not much in the way of big plays, no lead changes, quite one-sided. But I enjoy watching a powerful defensive line dominate a game.  Winnipeg's offensive line was dominant as well, opening up huge holes for Harris, and giving Zach Collaros all the time he needed to throw.  I think people who understand football appreciate how much the o-line and d-line have to do with winning, and today's game was a perfect example.

Andrew Harris and Nic Demski are both Winnipeg-born, both graduates of the Oak Park High School in Winnipeg, and now they've won the Grey Cup as Winnipeg Blue Bombers. That's pretty neat!  Andrew Harris is the first person to win both Outstanding Canadian and Most Valuable Player in the Grey Cup game.

The first Grey Cup game I went to I was a little guy when my dad took me to see Winnipeg beat Hamilton at Empire Stadium in 1958.
