Miami scored a touchdown with no time left on the clock to defeat the Patriots 34-33.   That isn't the amazing part. The amazing part was the play itself.  Deep in their own end and trailing by 5 points with 7 seconds left, the Dolphins ... uh, just watch for yourself.  This will be on every end of the year highlight reel:

The only sad thing was that I wasn't watching it live.  The happy thing was that it was against the Patriots.  The shittiest dynasty team there ever was.

Why was Gronkowski out there on defence?

I expect they anticipated the Dolphins would throw the ball as far as they could and hope for either a lucky catch or a pass interference penalty. Plays like that often end up in a "jump ball" situation, with a bunch of guys from both teams waiting for the pass, jumping for it, and hoping their team would be the one to come down with it.  In a situation like that, who better to have jumping up for the ball than the Gronk?  He's one of the most sure-handed receivers, and he's also a huge strong man who would probably beat most receivers in a situation like that.

They were way too far from the end zone for a Hail Mary pass....

Anybody wondering why there is buzz building around the lowly Cleveland Browns should watch these two clips of Baker Mayfield throwing missiles.

https://v.redd.it/cb70m21boa321

With yesterday's win, the Browns are now NOT LAST PLACE for the first time since 2014.

Meanwhile, here's Patrick Mahomes II throwing a completion in a direction opposite to where his face is pointing.

https://v.redd.it/c90gwhtfsf321

And here is Patrick scrambling at full speed and throwing a 30 yard completion in a direction he is not running in.

Madness.

BTW - thanks 2 Kimmy for the storyline on the Browns.  It made me stop on this channel and watch a highly entertaining game down to the final electrifying sack in the closing seconds ...

I just love an underdog story, and the Browns are the doggiest underdogs since the Bad News Bears.

The NFL regular season has concluded!

Your surviving teams!

In the AFC: the Chiefs and Patriots win first-round byes. Colts vs Texans next week.  Chargers vs Ravens next week. Chiefs have home-field advantage for AFC playoffs.

In the NFC: the Saints and Rams win first-round byes. Eagles face Bears next week. Seahawks face Cowboys next week.  Saints have home-field advantage for NFC playoffs.

My favorite story of the season, the Browns, ended their Cinderella run with a loss to Baltimore. They had a chance to finish with 7 wins in their last 8 games and post a winning record for the first time since the stone age. They fell just short, but their loss had a silver lining: the Ravens win eliminated the disgusting Steelers and the loathsome Ben Roethlisberger from the playoffs.

The old Browns had some great years including a pre Super Bowl, NFL Championship. Jim Brown was one of the greatest running backs ever.

Well, I did say since the stone age. ;)

I vaguely remember them having some success in the 1990s. Bernie Kossar or something like that.
