Charles Grodin, age 86.  He was in lots of things, but for people my age is probably best known for the Beethoven movies.

The last thing I saw him in was this cameo in "So I Married An Axe Murderer".

Pretty strange for me to have a Millenial post about Grodin's passing.

It made sense, though, when I saw what you knew him from.

Frank Bonner (Herb Tarlek) dead at 79.  Great character, WKRP was one of the best shows of the 70/80's along with Night Court.

I bet it doesn't take another 50 years for the next one to die.

Charlie Watts RIP

It seems unfitting that Watts be the first to die, as he's the one who wasn't infamous for something outside of music.

Quote
For all of his low-key skill behind the kit, Watts seemed well aware that he was an irreplaceable element of the Stones’ sound. As one famous story from the band’s heyday goes, Jagger once phoned Watts’ hotel room in the midst of an all-night party, asking, “Where’s my drummer?” Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying, “Don’t ever call me your drummer again. You’re my **** singer!”

My favorite part is that he shaved and put on a suit and tie before punching Mick in the face.

Ed Asner, star of TV and movies, dead at age 91.  I'm too young to be familiar with Lou Grant, but millions of younger fans know Ed Asner as the voice of main character Carl from Pixar's mega-hit "Up".  Asner was still doing voice work for cartoons and video games even this year.

Lou Grant was the spinoff show that put liberal politics squarely in prime time.

In the early 1990s, I used to rent and illegally live in a loft in an 1880s era building with a beautiful ornate caged elevator that still employed Max the elevator operator. Ed Asner was filming a movie in the building and gave a signed portrait to Max. It said, "When I go to hell, I want you to take me."
