He has daily transfusions an undocumented pacemaker and daily CT scans also.  Spends 30 minutes a day outside his pherma-bubble.

Churchill syndrome. A dozen cigars, a few whiskies, a bottle and a half of champagne and a couple of brandies a day for a good life.

Karl Lagerfeld, fashion icon, also passed away this week.  He was hilariously recognizable, and was a key figure at Chanel for decades. He also had his own label. I was never interested in high fashion, but I do like the Lagerfeld cologne.

Luke Perry, actor known as a teen idol on Beverly Hills 90210, and more recently parent of teen idol on Riverdale, died from a stroke last week, just 52 years old.

I'm not sure that Rachel Held Evans is exactly a "celebrity", but she was a popular Christian author.    She died today, just 37 years old, after a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics.

I don't spend much time reading religious writers and thinkers, but Evans was one that I did read once in a while. She was an evangelical, but also a progressive, which makes her a pretty rare blend, and an interesting read in a landscape where Christianity (especially evangelical Christianity) is mostly represented by conservative and male voices.

This blog post is typical of how she framed progressive ideas in a Christian context:

Sad when anyone dies at 37.  However, calling her a celebrity is a bit of a stretch.

Tim Conway gone today. His Carol Burnett Show skits were the funniest things I have seen on TV.

He was definitely up there with the funniest. Much of it was ad lib. He would stick to the script during rehearsals then go rogue during the shooting. Just waiting for him to make Harvey Korman lose it was worth watching on its own.

Tim Conway was (IMHO) the greatest comedian ever.
