The Brothers last home game
« on: April 05, 2018, 05:15:30 pm »
Will be watching the boys for sure.

Sedins by numbers.

1,463: Canucks games since the Sedins made their debuts at the start of the 2000-01 season, all of which have featured at least one of them in the lineup.

94: Percent of those games that have featured both of them.

1: Pair of teammates who have played more regular-season NHL games together than the Sedins (Gordie Howe and Alex Delvecchio)
.
36: Percent of Canucks regular-season goals in regulation or overtime since the start of 2000-01 that have involved at least one Sedin.

19.5: Percent of Canucks regular-season goals in that span on which both brothers picked up a point (743 of 3,799)
.
2: Teammates in history who have factored in on the same goal more times than that in NHL history (Wayne Gretzky and Jari Kurri with 764).

1: Pair of brothers in NHL history to win the Art Ross Trophy as the league's top point producer in consecutive campaigns (Henrik in 2009-2010, Daniel in 2010-11).

2,107: Combined points notched by Henrik and Daniel in the regular season over 17 campaigns.

2: Players in Canucks history to rack up 1,000 career points (Henrik and Daniel).

1: Sibling duo in NHL history to register 1,000 career points apiece (the Sedins).

Sportsnet.

Daniel just scored a classic from Edler and Henrick.

I was just reading the #ThankYouSedins hashtags and I had tears in my eyes. I can’t imagine if I’d watched the game.

Science World is lighting up blue and yellow in their honour. So many other teams tweeting, BC Children’s hospital, you name it.

Such a sad night in Vancouver for sure. Canucks without the Sedins. :(

Classy, talented, sportsmen.  I was never a fan of them, as they always caused far too much trouble for my stupid Oilers, but I've always respected them.  It's too bad that they never won a Stanley Cup, it's the one thing that could have added to their legacy.

Canadian teams and non-original-six Northern American teams don't win cups.

That's for O6 teams, and Ahaheim, Carolina, Florida, Dallas etc.

Oh, and the f*cking Penguins.

Good for the Swedes (they sound Swedish).  Mats Sundin was also a great emotional player for the losing Leafs.

But f*ck hockey and sports for that matter.

Quite a script. Down 3-1 going into the 3rd a couple of the kids got them even and then Daniel from Henrick for the OT winner. Shots 33 to 22 for he Canucks.

I find it really weird and on the verge of creepy that these two were joined at the hip for their entire career.

Another great story is how Burke engineered the trades that allowed him to draft both of them at once. They didn't expect to be playing together. It wasn't finalized till the day of the draft. He wasn't keen on them after the World Juniors but Thomas Gradin talked him into it.

I heard that the Oilers' owner is letting the Sedins' families watch tonight's game from his personal sky-box.  I imagine there will also be some kind of tribute to the Sedins. They could make a very, very long video montage of all the goals the Sedins have scored against the Oilers during their careers.

Unfortunately the Oilers will also have to do some sort of memorial to the tragedy involving the Humboldt Broncos junior team. :(  That will cast a pall over everything.
