It makes me kind of sad that some people are so bereft of sense that they look to this feebleminded fossil for advice.

There is a whole pile of these celebrity televangilists out there, greedy as hell and not the least bit shy about bilking often desperate people of every cent they can get. Remember Robertson's plea for money to prevent God from killing him? And he's not even the worst of them. I often wonder what is missing in people's lives or their brains that they fall for this ****. It's hard to feel sorry for them but I do anyway.

Another one, this time a conservative Christian pastor declaring the Texas massacre part of God's plan and that the victims are better off, having been delivered from the evils of this world.

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/11/conservative-writer-god-was-answering-prayers-of-texas-victims-by-letting-them-get-shot/

Quote
Fiene begins his column by attacking liberals who have mocked Republican politicians who only offer “thoughts and prayers” for shooting victims — and who don’t take any direct action that could prevent future shootings.
He then explains to liberals that it was part of God’s plan that over two dozen people would get shot up while in their own house of worship.

Quote
But we are also praying that God would deliver us from evil eternally. Through these same words, we are asking God to deliver us out of this evil world and into his heavenly glory, where no violence, persecution, cruelty, or hatred will ever afflict us again.”

I think this is more along the lines "outrage ****" MH was talking about.  Tesco (a store in the UK I think) featured ads with Muslims participating in Christmas with the message "everyone welcome" causing some customers to be outraged because "Muslims don't do Christmas".   Now Tesco has continued this outrageous behavior by asking customers to share their favorite Christmas meal.  It seems that the idea some people might not stick with turkey/stuffing/potatoes is an insult to Christianity.

I think part of the problem is that Tesco doesn't do halal turkey.

So it turns out there's a JW connection this bizarre story. It's bizarre even by JW standards.

Here I was, worried about drinking the kool-aid when it's really the tea you need to be careful about.

Yeah.  I think product boycotts are really iffy.  You have to be careful about that or you could end up with Liberal Pepsi and Republicoke.

I was thinking about that expression today.

You know... Kool Aid is mostly safe.

No.

But people use the term like it's unsafe.

It's fine.

Our mothers gave it to us.

As a treat.

"Drinking the kool-aid" is the expression ex-JWs use to describe people in the cult. A la Jim Jones, yes.

That must be some pretty crazy tea.  One of my former landlords told me about a tenant he once had. She was 20 years old and liked to put "magic crystals" in her coffee. She'd walk around the house naked, with her pupils dilated to the size of golf balls. I wonder if the Alberta family had the same kind of "magic crystals" in their tea.

This was actually local news yesterday, as Omak is just a short drive from here.  One observer dubbed it "the most significant thing that ever happened in Omak."    The commander claimed that the exercise was of no training value, but I disagree. It took some precision flying to execute this maneuver.

Not sure if this is stupid or funny.  Imma go with funny.   :D

Funny works for me.

However, I'm putting on my snowflake hat and expressing offense that they described the male genitalia as "offensive" and "obscene".  It's just a ****, for gawd's sake!    ;)
