which begs the layperson question: what type/level of bird management does a regional airport, typically, maintain?

Airport maintenance will look after birds on the airport using bangers etc. Used to keep an airplane at Boundary Bay which is located between the Vancouver city dump and the bay. Used to hate it when they would use bangers on a flock of gulls sitting on the ramp. They would all take off and crap on my machine.

Bird strikes can happen anywhere. We had one in the middle of the night departing Kennedy.
