I have another household in my family who does it.  They use it as a shopping list.  When you see a certain food run out or you think of something you add it to the board.

But the thing is you can't bring a board to the grocery store.  I think a magnetized paper pad and pen on the fridge might be more convenient.

I agree with you that I don't want chores on my fridge.

We have a two-step process.  The whiteboard is in the kitchen, so you write stuff there.  The 'master list' is on Trello - an app.  And when you think of it, you erase items from the white board and add it to the Trello list, which you read off your phone in the grocery store ...

Next-level grocery shopping is incorporating sales and such... ie. don't buy anything unless it's on sale esp. coffee
