It may not be strange but it's wrong to see social attributes as signs of personal value.
Arguably true, yet society has always done so.
Trump is far from the only rich guy to insist on having a beautiful young wife on his arm. It's practically routine. And these are the people you would imagine would already have enough sense of personal value to not care about such things.
