So after 6pm you just sit on the porch for hours?
Sometimes I drag out my telescope. The skies are very dark here.

I like porches, you can read the newspaper and whatnot.  But then what about in the winter?
Yup, get some pretty fine days in the winter.

I suspect that before electricity people typically went to bed as soon as it got dark and woke up at sunrise, which would make porches more sensible.

I think no screen-time would be easier for kids, since they play with their toys and each other and invent make-believe games.
Screen time for the grandkids around here is usually in the mornings when everyone else is still either asleep or enjoying a coffee, on the porch.  On nice evenings we have a firepit and marshmallows and the stars.  Ever given a kid from the city a pair of binoculars under a really dark sky for the first time? Good luck getting them into bed.

BC winters though...  Not really winter lol.

Lately its been so cold the mucus inside my nose has been freezing instantly when i go outside...which is a weird feeling.  I've never been a scarf person but also realized that once you hit about -15 and below you need a scarf or ski mask etc if you're going to be outside more than 10 mins.

I've been tracking rabbit, coyote, fox, and deer tracks in my neighbourhood which is fun.  Fox and coyote tracks on my driveway.  Going to put up a motion night-vision camera to capture them since coyote/fox typically move at night.
