I might try FP next...

It has been 8 months …   Have you tried a French press and a good burr grinder yet?

Funny enough... a newborn set some of my plans back.

WE are so under water that I actually didn't have time to get coffee so we had to buy bad Brazillian at the local store.

Wow…. I have friends who do stuff all the time with 2 toddlers…. They even make a decent cup of coffee!

I'm sure they have their bad days.

Couple of months ago I bought a fully automatic machine. A Phillips 3200 and I'm loving it. Not nearly as expensive as the high end machines but versatile and surprisingly good. I'm experimenting with dark and medium roast blends. Kicking Horse Bear Claw Dark and Cliff Hanger Espresso medium was good. Next I'm going to try Kicking Horse Kick Ass dark with Three Sisters medium.

It has a built in ceramic grinder and does single and double shot espresso's, Americanos and straight coffees as well as capucino's and lattes  and just hot water.
It has a latteGo feature with a separate removable milk container attachment. It injects steam through the attachment and heats just the milk that goes straight into the cup before the espresso is added. I rarely drink milked coffees but my daughter loves them. The result is very good and all you have to clean is the milk container.

The only downside is I'm drinking a lot more coffee.

Nice Wilber!

We have a Breville with a built-in grinder and milk steamer.  But my spouse and I don’t like the same coffee, so I use a stand-alone burr grinder for mine.  I don’t drink the milky drinks either.

I like the Kicking Horse coffee too.  But I like Ethical Bean (roasted in Vancouver) even better.  I use the Sweet Espresso blend.

With our’s, you need to measure, grind and tamp the coffee, and steam your own milk.  But I don’t find the process to be too onerous or time consuming.  I almost always drink Americanos.

I've tried the Ethical Bean as well and it's good. Kicking Horse is roasted in Invermere of all places. I'm enjoying experimenting with my own blends.

My old Breville doesn't have a grinder and I used an old cast iron hand grinder that I bought in England 30 ish years ago. Getting lazy in my old age and a thing I really like about the auto machine is the lack of cleanup. Just empty the bin when the full light comes on, remove the mechanism once a week, rinse it under a tap and stick it back in. Easy Peasy.
