People from Places
« on: January 13, 2020, 02:53:52 pm »
I was looking up the group 'Wild Cherry' and they come from Stubenville Ohio.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_Steubenville,_Ohio

I don't think anybody from that town is worth much, in terms of legacy.

Any examples of good places or bad places ?

Compare to the town of Eureka

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_Eureka,_California

Maybe a bit better... Lloyd Bridges ok.

Next... San Fran, admittedly larger but...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_from_San_Francisco

Rube Goldberg
Robert Crumb
Mel Blanc
Tom Hanks
Margaret Cho
Cheech & Chong
Isadora Duncan
Robin Williams
Francis Coppola
George Lucas
Clint Eastwood
Steely Dan
Grateful Dead
Jefferson Airplane
Metallica
Vince Guaraldi

ok... I have to stop.

Question: Do you have places you hate with people you hate that all come from there ?  or... flip it to 'like' ?

San Francisco has for a long time been a cool city of, like, far out hippies and other artist types.  Now it's filled with PC police who shame you for your "offensive" jokes or if you eat meat.

James Hetfield of Metallica eats the most organic food possible (he's a hunter).  The people of the Bay Area would shame him for being a hunter so he GTFO and moved to Colorado.  He lived in the Bay area for like 35 years.

1. I think that was true 25 years ago.  Now it's tech billions land.

2. Shaming is global.

I was surprised when I found out that Cage The Elephant are from Kentucky, because I thought all they had in Kentucky is bourbon and horses.
