I'm not going to go FISHING FFS.  I will hang out in nature, that's it.

Kayaking?

Throw the child in the water to teach it to swim is what I say.

Alberta or Yukon ?  That's like BC.

Outdoors where I live is that strip of grass between the eastbound and westbound.

Invite a friend on a road trip, even if just for the day, go anywhere.  Sounds like you're going insane and need to get out of the house.  I understand this 1000%.  Lockdowns suck.

I applaud Mr Perfect for getting outside and enjoying the fresh air.  I went for a walk in the park the other day, a few trails, it was great.

Autumn is a great time.  Not too hot not too cold, you can spend the day outside.  When I was a kid I loved the summer but as i'm older it can get sweaty and uncomfortable sometimes.  Sometimes you just want to enjoy the day without getting blasted with heat.  A 22 degree day with sun is just perfect.  Yay September and October.

I didn't get a kayak this year.  Maybe next year, or over the winter.  Many of them are sold out everywhere due to lockdowns.

There is also a problem of transport, I don't own a big truck.  I don't really want to get a trailer.

I downloaded an app that identifies plants and insects when you take a picture of it.  I'm an amateur naturalist.  I have successfully identified poison ivy on one of my hiking treks.  90% of the time what you think might be  poison ivy isn't.

I am trying to seduce local squirrels and chipmunks with shelled unsalted peanuts to transform them into my outdoor companions, so far limited success.  Usually they are more receptive.

I saw a wild fox the other week.  They are skittish and rarely are seen.  I suspect maybe they are nocturnal.  Crows are my least favorite bird, they are loud and annoying.

A few nights ago for 10 minutes I stood and watched bats flying above my home at dusk.  I suspect they were catching flies.  I remember watching the same thing as a child and thinking it was so cool.

I saw the first geese start flying south in formation the other day.

After a long, hot summer where the lakes have been too warm and some gates leading into the backcountry have been shut due to the fire risk, we are heading out to our favourite secret fishing spot.  This lake has a steep and moderately difficult canoe launch with some current you have to paddle out of quickly, so it doesn’t get much fishing pressure.

And the trout are big and plentiful!  At least last time…. Let’s not jinx it!

Did anyone else venture outside on Thanksgiving?  Put up a pic of your outdoor pursuits!

We went to the river on Thanksgiving and had some amazing fishing.  Several rainbow trout and a few nice cutthroat caught on the fly.

The river valley.  A skiff of snow in the mountains!

Cutthroat!  About a 3 pounder!  Beautiful looking specimen.

I snapped my old fly rod in half last weekend. Sad.

Good news is, I bought a new, much nicer rod!   Don’t tell my spouse how much it cost!

Pro tip:  Don’t go fishing during a weather bomb!  You’re going to be wet and cold!  Although, the fishes were biting…. and no one else was out on the lake!

Yesterday's snowshoeing in the hills above Kim City was beautiful.  The best snow I have ever snowshoed (snowshod? snowshewn?) on.

Sounds awesome. Post a pic.

Spent the day on a local river.  No luck catching fish.  Had issues with te eyes on my fly rod freezing up constantly.  Challenging conditions.
