I didn't get a kayak this year. Maybe next year, or over the winter. Many of them are sold out everywhere due to lockdowns.
There is also a problem of transport, I don't own a big truck. I don't really want to get a trailer.
I downloaded an app that identifies plants and insects when you take a picture of it. I'm an amateur naturalist. I have successfully identified poison ivy on one of my hiking treks. 90% of the time what you think might be poison ivy isn't.
I am trying to seduce local squirrels and chipmunks with shelled unsalted peanuts to transform them into my outdoor companions, so far limited success. Usually they are more receptive.
I saw a wild fox the other week. They are skittish and rarely are seen. I suspect maybe they are nocturnal. Crows are my least favorite bird, they are loud and annoying.
A few nights ago for 10 minutes I stood and watched bats flying above my home at dusk. I suspect they were catching flies. I remember watching the same thing as a child and thinking it was so cool.
I saw the first geese start flying south in formation the other day.
