I would say that 90% of people only care about things which affect them personally.
There is absolutely NO WAY to quantify this. I often find righty people to be practical but to really resent the idea of altruism in others.
If someone is pro-tax you can bet they don't pay much tax and expect others to endure the pain.
Everybody where I work makes good money and is as liberal/NDP as the day is long.
If someone is pro-social programs you can bet the programs that they use are the most important. It is human nature.
