Don't Look Up....

An aggravating parody that - as dumb as it is - isn't as dumb as the real world.

It's ok if you are looking for aggravation.

What's on TV ??

Yellowjackets: Lord of the Flies meets Heathers and Alive. Teen girls soccer team crashes in remote wilderness in 1996 and we see how the survivors cope when skeletons start to come out of the closet in 2021.

Arcane, on Netflix.

This is an animated show, with sort of a Steampunk aesthetic. The main characters appear to be a band of young thieves in a city that is very divided by class.  I have only watched one episode so far and I haven't decided whether I like the show or not, but I was completely enchanted by the artwork. I have never seen an animated show that is this beautiful. You can hit pause at any point and you are looking at a beautiful painting. This show is STUNNING. I'm going to give it a few episodes to decide whether the story lives up to the artwork, but the artwork alone is enough to get me to watch at least one more episode.

 -k

Watched the 1st episode, and it’s great.  You’re right about the animation; it’s stunning.   Love how the characters are drawn.   Steampunk meets World of Warcraft.

I actually liked it. Wonderful job of skewering much of the politics that has gone on around issues like Global Warming and Covid.

Death to 2021... A parody / retrospective of various events from 2021, with various portrayals of stereotypical interviewees... an empty-headed British actor, a "social media influencer" who is oblivious, a "Karen" (typical MAGAchud type), a scientist, etc.

Quite enjoyable... humor similar to what you might find on the Daily Show, the old Colbert Report, or similar.

(There was a similar one done last year too... Death to 2020, which was pretty good.)

Enjoyable enough as a NYE tradition which is emerging.  Quebec has an annual show like that and I have never understood why we don't.

Anyway fun disposable entertainment.

Cannibalism for one.
If a person who eats only vegetables is a vegetarian, would a person who is a cannibal be considered a Humanitarian?

Just asking questions....

Not Netflix but final season of Killing Eve starts on the 27th. Really wondering how they will end it.

Is "World Without End" on Netflix? I think at one point it was but I hadn't seen it in a couple years. (So I bought it on Blu-ray.) If it is on Netflix Canada, I recommend watching it. It's awesome. My mother even thought it was fascinating, and she and I typically have opposite tastes in movies/TV.

There is a website called 'JustWatch', which allows you to search for movies, and it will tell you what streaming service they are on (if any... includes Netflix, Disney+, Crave, Amazon, Tubi, Plex, etc.).

I did a search for World Without End... if it is the 1950s movie, it is not available on any streaming service.

No, it's a miniseries from not too long ago; in 8 parts.

On Prime:

Jack Reacher series.

I enjoyed season 1.  The writing wasn’t perfect…. But the characters were well played and the dialogue was good.

I know some fans of the novels who are happy with the series and absolutely hated the movies, due to Tom Cruise being cast as Reacher.  Cruise is the total opposite of how the character in the book is described.

Jack Reacher TV series/novels:

Jack Reacher, Tom Cruise style….

The only reason I might watch that is Werner Herzog is the villain (in the movie)

Is he good ?
