Manhunt: Unabomber is an awesome miniseries.  Fascinating true story, and doesn't drag.

Anyone watched Shetland?

Great whodunnit done in the Shetlands, Scotland and a side trip to Norway. First three seasons are on Netflix. The first season has one case every two episodes, the next two seasons are a about a single case each season. Excellent cast, great scenery and the plots are pretty involved. I think it is in season six in the UK, hopefully Netflix picks up some more. Keep the close caption on unless you have a really good ear for the Scottish dialect.

Also, The Last Kingdom.
Based on Bernard Cornwell's Warrior Chronicals series of books. Historical fiction based on Alfred the Great and the period after when England was united into one kingdom. The first two seasons were done by the BBC and Netflix took over production for series three. Season four has been filmed and is supposed to air sometime this year.

For aviation buffs. Spitfire, the aircraft that saved the world. A documentary about the development and history of the aircraft with the few people left alive who flew it in the Battle of Britain and Malta.

Watched the miniseries “Waco” about the crazy religious nuts that got burnt up (with their children) by the FBI.  It was very good.

The actor that plays David Koresh is from Kelowna, BC!

"Unorthodox", story of a Hasidic Jewish girl escaping and based on a real story, although dressed up for TV.  Still had some interesting insights to this religious culture.

"Ozarks" still a pretty wild ride; people are changing allies and a major player loses her job.

My partner recommends the Ottoman Empire, factual interesting, action-packed.

I watched The Ottomans. All about the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Very good.

Last night we watched third season of Roman Empire, all about Caligula.  It was interesting, and provided a different perspective of Caligula's craziness.  We're going to watch Seasons two and one, probably in that order cause why not?  :)

Don't know if "Messiah" has been mentioned on this thread, but it was really interesting.

Not NETFLX but good reads are, I Claudius and Claudius the God. Claudius was the emperor who succeeded Caligula. His life spanned the reigns of Augustus, Tiberius and Caligula. It is believed he was finally poisoned by Nero's mother so Nero could take over. He was unimposing physically, had a stutter and drooled a bit. No one took him very seriously but when he was put in place after Caligula was killed, he ended up having a long reign and was the best of that family other than Augustus himself. BBC made a miniseries of the books with Derek Jacobi as Claudius and John Hurt as Caligula. Don't know if it is available anywhere.

I watched "Bodyguard" on Netflix recently.  No, not the old movie with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. Bodyguard is a 5-episode miniseries from England, starring Richard Madden (who won a Golden Globe award for the role).

Madden portrays British police sergeant David Budd. After courageously stopping a terror incident on a train, Budd is appointed to a high profile position: principle protection officer for the Home Secretary, Julia Montague.  She is a powerful, ambitious, controversial, charismatic politician who has a lot of enemies, and Budd finds himself embroiled in things that are far more complicated than they seem at first.

Budd too is more complicated than he seems at first. He is a veteran who bears mental and physical scars from his time in Afghanistan. He is suffering from PTSD, but is afraid to seek medical help for it because he believes it will end his career. His family is falling apart. David's mental health is unravelling even without his stressful new assignment with the Home Secretary.

Madden is best known to billions as Robb Stark from Game Of Thrones, and like GoT, "Bodyguard" has a lot of intrigue, with chess-masters and pawns everywhere. Everybody is potentially a villain here, and Budd doesn't know who he can trust.  The show is tensely paced and has a claustrophobic atmosphere that fits Budd's mental state.   I really liked this.

I watched it about a year ago and--maybe it's because I'm old---it was one of those things I have practically no recollection of. But at least I remember I watched it

Love on the Spectrum.  I really enjoyed meeting these people, so many quirky personalities, the matter-of-fact honesty so many displayed, the pure joy when they found someone with whom they connected.
