I liked The Mandalorian.  It was the right show at the right time for this franchise.  After several years of negativity about everything surrounding everything Star Wars, Jon Favreau created something that was fun and energetic and reminded people why they liked Star Wars in the first place. It was a crowd-pleaser, and that was what they needed.

I think Jon Favreau "gets" Star Wars. I don't think Kathleen Kennedy and Jar-Jar Abrams "get" Star Wars.

Yeah.  Also Dave Filoni was a head creator on Mandalorian.  He worked with George Lucas on those Clone Wars cartoons, and Rebels cartoon series, which I've barely watched but aren't bad.  He's basically Lucas' protege, for better or worse.  He grew up a Star Wars kid.

At this point you have to be a Star Wars nerd to really "get" Star Wars.  But Rian Johnson was a Star Wars kid and his version of SW was...weird.  But i think the boardroom of Disney writers was heavy in on that script too, given the "Marvel humour" and woke politics inserted for no reason.

I think the Disney room of SW writers was also heavily into the script for JJ's movies too.  Favreau and Filoni care a lot more about making good Star Wars stories than inserting their 2022 political agendas into stories and characters and selling bedsheets to young girls.  They left them alone and they made good stuff.  Although Book of Boba Fett was lame.
