Ok, my thoughts on this Netflix announcement. It's a great thing for Canadian 'content', on the face of it. It could be exactly what we have needed for a long time: a producer with money, who knows how to make great product and find talent.
There's a wealth of great Canadian content out there, which CBC and CTV and film Canada have no idea how to cultivate. There are amazing stand-up comedians, sketch troupes and drama companies that are either shepherded into mediocrity, or leave the business in their twenties.
Here's hoping.
