It's well done as long as you don't take it too seriously.

I watch Netflix on the treadmill and The Crown had me looking forward to putting on my runners for all four seasons.  Great show.

Godless

Great mini-series in the Western genre.  I enjoyed it a lot.  Acting was great, particularly Jeff Daniels.  Very strong cast of women who play a much larger role than traditional westerns without seeming like it was forced, if you know what I mean.

I think we watched a few episodes but maybe it was too brutal for the mood we were in ....

I watch Netflix on the treadmill and The Crown had me looking forward to putting on my runners for all four seasons.  Great show.

I watched a documentary on Phillip the other day. Very interesting character. Family tragedies and other incidents in his youth which made him very guarded about expressing personal feelings. Over achiever, had to be the best at everything he tried. First in his class at the naval academy, sterling war record, given command of a frigate at 29. The guy was a serious sailor and his world was crushed when he had to give up his navy career. Early on he made himself unpopular with staff at the palace when he tried to bring it into the 20th century by maintaining things like sending footmen from room to room with messages wasn't the most efficient way of doing things in the age of the telephone. Environmentalist before it became fashionable, he was the first president of the British WWF in 1961 (ten years before Greenpeace was founded) and held the post for 21 years, founded or supported many other causes and charities. The guy was a doer. One thing that did ring true from The Crown was his identifying with Diana as being an outsider, her correspondence has shown that he tried very hard to keep her and Charles together, thinking it would work out for them like it had for him and Elizabeth.

My favourite part of the Crown was the astronaut episode. You know, the one where Lord Mountbatten became the first member of the Royal family to go to space.

Didn't know whether to pu this here or the Auto Racing thread. Season 3 of Formula 1 is on Netflix. Watched the first episode last night and it covered the Racing Point controversy and testing ending with Covid resulting in the cancellation of the Australian GP. Episode 2 tonight.
