Sweden is seriously contemplating getting rid of cash.  How will paranoid crazies buy things if their every movement can be tracked by their purchases??

I don't use cash much, but this is still pretty creepy:

I don't know the details but for sure your data is shared in ways that you don't suspect.

For example:

-Sometime around the Patriot Act I remember an insert in my CIBC account summary that indicated that CIBC would be compliant with the Patriot Act as a company that operated in the USA.  What did that mean ?  Who knows.
-Our security agencies are part of Five Eyes so they share it anyway, if you're of interest to them or maybe not
-Privacy vs. Secrecy - two sides of the same coin.  Openness kills both.  I'm still not sure if the social utility of privacy is being adequately considered on the whole.

So... I now have a friend who lives in Australia most of the time, telling me that he is ramping up to start his own currency.
