I totally don't think that a 60s conservatives were reactionary.  So I don't think I can process this.

No I'm saying that your beliefs are reactionary, not people from 60s and 70s.  Because conservatives want things to stay the same but reactionaries want society to revert to a prior state they deem as better.

So in some ways at least you're the opposite of a progressive, yet on other issues seemingly similar.

So many positive changes happened in the 60s/70s.  The wreath gap between rich and poor was at it's lowest in the early 70s.  Health care, social security, civil rights, workers rights, etc. The standard of living had increased substantially after WW2. Canada was heading in such a positive direction.  That seemed to change with the Reagan/Mulroney years, as deregulation set in, and big corporations began to not pay their fair share.

Today, the wealth gap between the rich and poor is at it's widest in nearly a century.

This still sounds wrong to me.

Read it and weep, LOL:

Quote
"In political science, a reactionary or a reactionist is a person who holds political views that favor a return to the status quo ante—the previous political state of society—which the person believes was better in some ways that are absent from contemporary society."

I’m not surprised we all have similar standings socially but on economic leanings I’m surprised to see so many negatives. As you say, there’ are different ways to help others but that’s where left and right kinda disagree. The question about charity’s place in helping the needy was one such distinction. I got -4.13 so just slightly further to the left than you and bcs I still don’t see either of you as socialist.

And re social issues, it seems the questions were kinda outdated about homosexuality. That’s a 20 year old battle. I bet if the questions were about trans rights we would be seeing a lot more socially conservative leanings.

Well one of the scales on the compass graph is for authoritarian leanings, and the other is for economic leanings.  There is no real scale for social issues on the test, other than how much control we think the government should have on our lives (authoritarian vs libertarian).

I'd consider myself moderate to slightly left of center economically.  I'm definitely not a neoliberal/free market guy, and believe in more money distribution from the very wealthy.  Socially i'm somewhere around moderate to right of center.
