Meme Culture

What is up with the angry pointing woman/white cat in all those memes??? And who started it? I think we ought to stop to consider the culture of memes.

While we're considering it here's a related one I thought was hilarious.

Memes were on the web almost from the outset, and maybe that is something we should learn about media in general.

There are always memes.

Interesting, thanks.

FB has become a meme factory. Some are funny/lighthearted and cheer me up immensely. Others, funny or not, are symptomatic of the state of social media, especially politically-motivated memes.

So they're actually unrelated images.  The woman screaming is from "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" or one of those other stupid Real Housewives shows.  And the cat was somebody's cat's instagram account.  Some people have instagram accounts for their cats, and this cat was unimpressed with the plate of veggies.  Somebody thought it would be hilarious to mash the two images together like the woman is having a meltdown at the cat, and the cat doesn't give a crap.

The concept is that somebody is irate about something, and somebody else thinks they're being stupid.

While we're considering it here's a related one I thought was hilarious.

 ;D   The resemblance is uncanny.

The cat is called smudge Lord.  They are from Ottawa.

Update: https://www.narcity.com/news/ca/on/ottawa/sad-white-cat-meme-is-way-more-canadian-than-you-think?fbclid=IwAR1HnQzSDnc-ZYszNF4gulCm0eNvf-C_iH1xaur9l7Oz1hZXo5iT7F86kB4

Aww how could anybody point and shout at such a beautiful cat? Incidentally, the cat we had from 1990 to 2000 liked to sit "at" the table as well. (not on it, at it, as Smudge is doing). Cuteness overload.

I don't know about that but the Boomer OK meme itself is next-level in terms of pure cleverness  :D

I love how angry it seems to make boomers.

"The problem with Millennials is (they don't work hard/they don't want to start at the bottom and work their way up/cell-phones/snowflakes/Facebook/never had to work hard/they don't get paper-routes to earn money/participation awards/they don't go to Applebees/etc etc)"

"Ok boomer"

"What? We were the generation that (protested Vietnam/Woodstock/civil rights movement/women's lib/sex drugs rock and roll/etc etc)"

"Ok boomer"

"You little punk! We were cool! We did great things! Great things! You need to listen up and --"

"Ok boomer"

Yep, it sure seems to get some people riled up.  Some boomer wrote a column in the New York Post about how "boomer" is the new "n-word" and should be banned from Facebook and how awful it is that nobody appreciates what great things they accomplished and how unfair it is that they get blamed for everything from the national debt to the environment.

He got deluged with responses that said "Ok boomer"

Remember the opening scene from "The Newsroom", where Jeff Daniels goes on a rant about how America isn't the greatest country anymore but it used to be, and how Millennials are the worst generation ever, and how awesome everything used to be?

I think somebody should take that and edit an "OK boomer" onto the end of it.

and how Millennials are the worst generation ever

You should listen to the entire quote, he is not blaming the millennials but pointing out what they inherited:

None of this is the fault of a 20-year-old college student, but you, nonetheless, are without a doubt, a member of the WORST-period-GENERATION-period-EVER-period, so when you ask what makes us the greatest country in the world, I don't know what the **** you're talking about?! Yosemite?!!!

I'm a Gen-X Boomer cusp.  Millennials are superior to us.  Seriously.
