Canadian Politics Today

I used to listen to his all-night open line radio show on the Mutual of Omaha network on Canada's first radio station CFCF-600 Radio Montreal, just before the network and the radio station signed off forever. It was sort of like an internet political forum. I recall even calling in a couple of times---once in a debate about the right to bear arms and once to get the chance to talk to Pete Seeger.
I think I liked it mostly because every show ended with Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington doing Duke's Place."

Had a popular show I watched a lot, truly a terrible interviewer though who did zero prep, RIP Larry.

I don't know, Seinfeld looked like the jerk in that interview.  Get over yourself.

Dick Cavett was my favourite interviewer back then.

Yeah, but I kind of agree with the question "What makes King a great interviewer ?"

The idea of "no preparation" SEEMS interesting but with the Prince interview he spent so much time talking about his name.... a waste of time.

As for Seinfeld... he created a genre-breaking blockbuster super-hit.  And King DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT.   

Why watch an interview where you know more than the interviewer ?

I am not defending King, I just thought Seinfeld seemed like a jerk about it.  The question was innocent 'you left, they didn't cancel, right'.  And Jerry seemed to get really upset that King didn't know he retired as a number one show.   

Admittedly, I didn't watch the full Prince video, but I know name was a big deal then.  I was/am a huge Prince fan, I remember that album and what a big deal it was that he came out without a name.

It was a worthy topic.

 Brian Linehan was my favourite interviewer. He would creep his subjects out with how much he knew about them. Martin Short did such a good impression,  he hurt his feelings.
