Ok, is that it?

I don't know if it's known how the Scouts handled it.

Phil Defranco talked about this yesterday. Apparently there were close to 8000 persons banned (US Scouts blacklist) up to 2005 (not sure the start year). While some people are complaining that the list was not published, I don't think that is the appropriate process because no proper investigation is carried out. Reporting to police for investigation is the appropriate process in my opinion, perhaps they started doing that in 2005.

Thanks for doing that bit of research.

Sounds like they are slightly better than the Catholic Church.

Not JW's in the news, but at my door  ;D

Last weekend, they came to our place.  In all the years since I have left, this is only the 2nd time they've come to my door.

Anyways, I let them do their little speech (which I  noticed hasn't changed since I left, same scripture, same talking points from 20 years ago) and then told her that I had been talking to JW's for years and was aware of what they believe.  (This was a little fib - I have done more than just talk with them.  But if I told her I was an apostate, the conversation would have been over.)

I said that when the Catholic church was being exposed for pedophilia, they ran many articles in their magazines stating that this was PROOF that Catholicism is a false religion.  She agreed, it did prove them to be false.

So I asked, "JW's were the subject of a Royal Commission investigation in Australia and it found over 1000 cases of hidden pedophila and sexual abuse that had been covered up.  What do you think that says about the falseness or truth of your religion?"

She said she did not know about that and that she would do some research and come back.

We'll see.  I doubt she will show up again.  As soon as I mentioned the Australian Royal Commission, her husband who was standing behind her started backing down the steps to leave and was half-way to their car before we finished speaking.

I had to get to them before my man did - he wants to blast them.  But I prefer to (hopefully) plant a seed that will get them to snap out of their cult brain.

Why do crimes by some members of a group invalidate the group ?

Boy Scout leaders were **** do - did we call to disband the Boy Scouts organization ?

What invalidates the group is when they cover up for crimes committed by members.  There will be **** in all groups, it's what the group does about it that invalidates or clears their name.

For religious groups there is an added element of hypocrisy/evil because when you claim to be chosen specifically by God - there's more of an expectation of good behaviour.  Or at least better than average, otherwise why bother with a religion.
