Is who you are how you post?
« on: July 20, 2017, 11:12:32 am »
Apparently introverts and extroverts communicate in entirely different ways, in writing as well as in person. Extroverts tend to be emotion focused, and don't worry much about the future. Introverts focus on solving problems (I am something of an introvert)

I'm an introvert, too.  I'm better on paper.  And I try to use humour to defuse tension. (It doesn't always go over well.... :P)

I'm an extreme introvert doing a job that requires me to pretend I'm an extrovert - it's a lot of work.

Introvert.

We're all introverts.  Extroverts talk to people in real life.

Here we go...

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2003/03/caring-for-your-introvert/302696/

"How can I let the introvert in my life know that I support him and respect his choice? First, recognize that it's not a choice. It's not a lifestyle. It's an orientation.

Second, when you see an introvert lost in thought, don't say "What's the matter?" or "Are you all right?"

Third, don't say anything else, either."

I am an introvert, and I often find some other people tiring. Especially those who are extroverts and put little bouncy things beside their website avatar to, I can only guess, attempt to enhance their presence.

I was an extrovert who became an introvert in school, then took acting classes to resolve my introvert/extrovert tendencies.  Being a person is hard.  I have times when I don't want to see people but I have to anyway.

I think you people are all missing the point of the OP, which is how your being an introvert or extrovert impacts your writing, your opinions, your beliefs, and how you state them and what you care and how you post about it.

For example, I am a notorious problem solver. Every time I hear about something that isn't working, be it a relationship or a government program, my mind instantly starts considering ways to fix it. This has caused some... issues in real life. For example, my persuading two female colleagues who were feuding to have a coffee together which almost degenerated into a cat fight in the cafeteria.

In terms of my posting, I think most of you have read enough of my complaints about various government policies and programs over the years to see this 'problem solving' fixation of mine. Whether it's health care, natives, the military, immigration, taxation or government efficiency, I remain frustrated by all the problems that no one is even attempting to fix.

If you're such a self proclaimed "problem solver", how come you seem, by your own admission, to be failing so badly? Perhaps you're simply inflating problems to keep an inflated ego occupied.
