I saw this video about fat acceptance activism on social media a while back, and thought it was interesting. I was less interested by the fat activism part itself, and more interested in the parts of the video that focus on the social network movement and how people become swept up in it.
Obviously fat people don't deserve to be bullied or made to feel ashamed. And, the video creator points out that glamorizing obesity is no more unhealthy than glamorizing the unrealistically thin models we were led to believe were the ideal of feminine beauty. But there's a leap from there to get to the point where these fat activists are claiming that there's nothing unhealthy about obesity, that information claiming obesity is unhealthy is fake or wrong, that "Big Diet" is behind the movement to stigmatize obesity, and this sort of thing. Anyway, long video but I enjoyed it.
