3. Housing collapse, but that will also hit the aspiring middle class who are trying to rise up by speculating on land.

Housing prices in Toronto started to rise, so people started to buy investment property, which made it rise more, and then the recession happened which dropped interest/mortgage rates massively, which made everyone who could afford it buy an investment property.  The government has failed.  Houses and condos should be owned by the people who live in them, not speculators, who just drive up the price for people wanting a roof over their head.  Significant taxes should be levied to people who don't live in the residential properties they own, foreign or domestic.

Over-speculation is the cause of almost all market crashes.  As always, markets will either be corrected by regulation to reign in speculation, or by the market correcting itself.  After a correction, most people will be stuck with an investment property they can't even afford to sell.

In a country with more privately owned guns than people, it won’t be pitchforks.

Thought we were talking about this billionaire's video; inequality and such?

1. & 2. Agreed
3. Root cause - capitalism.  Gambling, basically.  Do we let people gamble on blood supply futures too ?

Probably not pitchforks, no. But if you go too far with that you're only justifying the NRA's position that we need guns to overthrow the government; a rather surprising position to hear. (I'm being a little facetious though....)

But I digress. I am not disagreeing with your views on plutocracy, it is certainly an evil phenomenon and corrupts politics to the core. What I'm arguing with is your prediction that the US is going to "crack" because of it. Are you talking about a popular revolution? Or just "cracking" as in losing our democracy? Again though I can share a few examples....if you like.

I'm certainly not justifying it, just pointing it out as fact. In no other civilized state will you find organizations or a large segments of the population that maintain guns are necessary to protect them from their own government.

I don't know if the US will "crack" or not. Those weren't my words.

You're right that wasn't you. Sorry about that.

Again, though, I think this was about billionaires, plutocrats and some sort of uprising against them? Or have I missed something?

No you haven't. I think his point was, if plutocrats don't change their ways it will be done for them and it won't be pretty.

Who here finds a 90s lecture on philosophy and the postmodern world to be an 'interesting video' ?

Besides me, I mean ?
