I found this video inspiring.
Discussion is impossible with someone who claims not to seek the truth, but already to possess it.

That was a tremendously good speech!

I saw an interview a while back with UFC fighter Dominick Cruz that I sometimes think about. Cruz has been very successful, and this was at the post-fight press conference after he lost his championship in a tough fight.  It's a long press conference, and only the first minute or so is important. It's not exactly inspiration, but the way he handles defeat is something I will try to remember when things don't go my way.

Reporter: "Dominick, obviously a tough night for you tonight--"

Cruz: "What was tough about it?"

Reporter: "Walking away with the loss, of course."

Cruz: "Loss is part of life. If you don't have loss, you don't grow. This isn't tough, this is life."

Reporter: "What did you think about your performance tonight? Some people said maybe you weren't quite at 100% tonight."

Cruz: "They're wrong. I was there. That was 100% me. I was healthy, I was everything I've always been, in my eyes.  ... what else can you really say? I have to go back and watch the fight, obviously, but I'm not-- I can't-- after feeling it, after getting through it, after seeing the look in his eyes when I punched him, when I kicked him, when I fought him, I'm not disappointed in myself at all. All I can say is I lost, and I'll take my loss like a man."

Basically, the reporter offers him the chance to make excuses, but Cruz will have none of it. He was healthy, he was prepared, and he refuses to make any excuse for his performance.  He takes full ownership of the defeat, and is proud of his effort even though he didn't get the result he wanted.  Next time I experience a setback in life, I will try to handle it with the same amount of maturity.
