Why would you think those things mark you as a fascist?

He doesn't.

I think it's the other way around.  The values have changed.  Like I said, I always considered myself left leaning, if not an out and out lefty, but my views on equality, freedom, and religion, which I always thought marked me as left leaning, (along with my views on choice, gay rights,  etc) seem to now mark me as a fascist.

I also consider myself left-leaning. So much so that I will gladly call myself a leftist. Raving Marxist even. To others that means Facsist.  I say they're full of ****.

I don't think raving Marxists are Fascists. But they certainly do behave in a similar fashion. Canada would be better off without either group.

They don't.  It's just that there are those who think they do.  I'm sure my support for the freedom of white supremacist speech would get Antifa all riled up.

Thank you, for making my point better than I seem to be able to.

Thank you, for making my point better than I seem to be able to.

Oh no point was made, other than to query about the extent of your stated support.

There needs to be a new name for libertarians who are increasingly add odds with the authoritarian tendencies of the right and left.

Libertarian centrist?

I guess it all depends on what 'leftist' means. I am quite sure that ms.Shepherd is still a leftist (as she described herself back then) but not the Alt-right view of 'leftist'. Is that what she means?

Or, has she rejected her views from back then (when she described herself as a leftist) and now thinks those past views are bunky?

I think she rejects the leftism that inhabits most of her fellow students at university.  It's a new kind of leftism, or maybe just further to the left getting into far left territory.  Intersectional identity politics progressives or something of the sort.

In the current environment if one does not agree with every pillar of the "progressive" worldview from abortion rights to gun control to climate change then one will be called "alt-right/fascist/nazi" by people who claim to be the sole arbitrators of "progressive" views.

That's rich. It seems that anyone who doesn't want to rip apart government, brandish an AR-15, or allow a woman control over her own body, or is concerned about our environment is called a leftist, commie, pinko, Marxist, etc.

People like labeling people with authoritarian/totalitarian views as fascist because it sounds more evil.  Nothing's more evil than Hitler & Nazi Germany, so it's the "go-to" condemnation i guess, even if totally inaccurate in your case.  Notice they'll call you a fascist but not a Nazi, because that would be ridiculous.

But that describes me and I never get called a leftist, commie, pinko or Marxist.

That is exactly my point.  That to some, support for freedom of speech implies support for the speech.

Marxists, well of the Leninist kind at least, and Fascists are the opposite side of the same coin.  They have values and policies they want implemented and will do it using the brutal power of the state at the barrel of a gun and you better shut up and comply or you're going to jail.  These aren't liberals of the John Lockean sense.  These are bullies and authorities are their weapon.

Nationalism generally involves a country, not a colour.  I think I'm an English nationalist, (but it might just be Yorkshire) and I'm white.  Does that make me a white nationalist?

White Nationalist is just the PC term for White Supremacist.  White nationalists would like a 'White Nation' - ie: only White people.  Other-colored people are welcome to set up their own other-colored nations.
