ALL OF THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN WOMEN/GIRLS IN LORD OF THE RINGS - FULL TRILOGY - SPLICED INTO ONE FAST MOVIE
The main characters in the LOTR novels, and carried over into the movie, weren’t women. But then again, most of them weren’t human either.
Arwen and Eowyn were featured more prominently in the movies than the books.
I suppose they could have changed some of the main characters into women…. But I think the backlash from fans of the novels may have been an issue for the films if they did that.
Foundation (series based on novels by Isaac Asimov) did that, but those novels don’t have nearly the following as LOTR does. And it certainly didn’t hurt the TV adaptation to change the main character’s gender. The actors in Foundation are all terrific!
Should there have been a certain percentage of dialogue in the films that would have satisfied your sensibilities? 40%? 50%? Should they have changed the main characters to be more women?
