I just signed them up for the weekly "Learn to Skate" class at the community club arena and watched from the bleachers. It worked!

Got my kid their first pair of skates and a helmet. Hope to take her out to the rink this weekend to get started; some folks have suggested a walker-type skate trainer (the frame they push around) or the kind you clip on their skates, but I've had others say that the best thing is to learn by doing, which is also how I did it (though I was older than she is now when I started). Anyone else have experience with teaching kids to skate?

Are you a good skater?  If so, you won’t need the walker-thingy.  You’ll be the support.

game yesterday - Wild/Wings: Minnesota "enforcer" Ryan Reeves - scum! How can anyone claim this was a clean open-ice hit... Reeves initially hits Detroit's Hronek in the face/head.

That’s a clean hit.  He makes contact with the body first.  It’s clear on the 3rd replay when you see it from the side.

First point of contact is the head, there’s literally no subject where you won’t beclown yourself.

The first point of contact wasn’t the head.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Reeves’ positioning.  It’s textbook.  If Reeves was white it probably wouldn’t be an issue with you a-holes.

That still is like a full second after the initial contact. Watch the gif.

Also lol at playing the race card here.

Quote
Lalonde talked with Hronek briefly to try to learn why he left himself so exposed. The youngster told his coach that he looked behind him because he thought there was a penalty and was trying to see if goalie Magnus Hellberg was headed to the bench.

Lalonde said as “crazy” as that sounds, it now made “a little more sense” why Hronek left himself so vulnerable.

“I know Reaves was not malicious with it,” Lalonde said. “I think Filip would want that play back.”

Like their coach, Red Wings players weren’t screaming after the game and insisting the hit was dirty. One notable former Red Wing also tweeted that it was a “clean hit.”

His own teammates know it was a clean hit.  So does his own coach.  You forum know-it-alls are out to lunch, as usual.  No one is so cocksure as the ignorant.

All I said was that, contrary to what our pet idiot claimed, the first point of contact was his head, which is true. Th eNHL deems such hits as clean, so whadaaya gonna do.

Keep your bloody head up!   Even the guy’s coach was wondering what he was doing!   Skate right up the middle, looking around like an idiot, while the meanest, baddest player in the NHL is heading right for you.  Kiss your ass goodbye.

squiggy tough guy! That type of play has no place in hockey - it has no redeeming value. The sham NHL/Office of Player Safety purports to want to end head shots/player concussions. The prior posted vid clearly shows Reaves hits Hronek's face/head first... but even if it was a follow-through (which it wasn't), the head was clearly hit by career cheap-shot artist Reaves. The guy has a history of 3 suspensions and 3 separate situations where he was fined.

I doubt he will be fined for this because I don't think there was anything else he could do, other than get out of the way and that wouldn't be a hockey play. Concussions will (hopefully) always be a risk, especially among guys who skate obliviously with the puck, leading with their head as it is hunched over and facing the ice.

Now please don't make me ever agree with shady again. It's embarrassing.

What's missing from this convo is how incredible those Minny uniforms look. A rare good looking set from the ugly ass crop of 2022 reverse retros.
