Big games for the Leafs.

'Veteran CBC Radio personality Scott Regehr' was postulating that Babcock could well be done if he can't solve the Leafs' woes.

This kind of power they should be able to get farther than Round 1.  Jeez...

That's what Tampa, Calgary and Winnipeg thought as well.

Too bad they didn't tie it up before the end of the 2nd. They had a few good chances.

Well that's it for Toronto.

Boston will go through to the second round, and face Columbus.

If any of you missed the ending to the San Jose-Vegas game, you will likely never see an ending like that.  That was one of the most amazing finishes I have ever seen.  Down 3-0, San Jose scored 4 PPG in the final 10 minutes, to take a 4-3 lead. Vegas tied it up with less than a minute left. Then after a thrilling OT period, the Sharks score to knock Vegas out of the playoffs and advance to the second round.

San Jose will play Colorado

I'm very happy that San Jose won, and I don't like the Golden Knights at all.

But the 5 minute major where San Jose scored all those goals... was a pretty iffy call.  Eakins did cross-check Pavelski, but the scary injury wasn't because of the cross-check, it was because Paul Stastny bumped into Pavelski right afterwards and Pavelski fell awkwardly.  It was a freak accident, not a vicious play by Eakins.  Although you could argue that Pavelski was injured as a result of Eakins' cross check. Or you could argue that Stastny actually deserved a penalty on the play, in that he seemingly threw an off-balance player down. Anyway, it's a pretty debatable call, and it will probably be argued over for a long time.

Despite the dubious call, it was incredibly thrilling to see the Sharks storm back and score 4 goals on that power play. What an incredibly exciting finish to the 3rd period and overtime. A real thriller.   Prior to the penalty I was just about ready to shut off the TV and go do something else. But from the point where Logan Couture scored that first goal 6 seconds into the power play, right to the end, it was total mayhem. I hardly sat down from Couture's first goal right to the end of the third period.

I don't think anybody considers Boston beating Toronto an upset.

The Islanders beating the Penguins wasn't an upset if you rank them on regular season standings, although many people probably picked the Penguins just based on star power.

The Sharks beating the Golden Knights wasn't an upset if you rank them on regular season standings, although many people probably picked the Knights just based on their playoff success vs San Jose's seemingly cursed playoff history.

The Blues beating the Jets is an upset if you rank them based on standings, but the Blues were one of the league's best teams in the second half of the season.

And Washington is still a good bet to make the second round, because neither team in this series has won a road game.

I think Stastny should have got the penalty instead.  Pavelski was off balance from the first cross check and completely vulnerable. I didn’t have a problem with a major penalty.

I was about to turn it off before that penalty. What a bizarre ending.

Capitals lead Hurricanes 3-2 going into the 3rd period.  Still up for grabs!
