My opinion is that everyone in Hollywood, both those are nobody and those who are someone, knew about it. It's been going on forever and I would not believe any assertion the HW was the only one who was up to it. Nobody cared until they had to be seen to care. Some doe eyed teenage potential starlet might not be able to do much about it, but I bet there were lots of people who could.
Yeah, apart from the HW example for which you think there was an answer. I am pointing out that there aren't easy answers all the time.
