I went out and got pretty tanked last night.  My favorite Halloween thing that I saw was a busker in a werewolf costume shredding heavy metal guitar on the street corner.

At least, I think it was a busker and not an actual werewolf.

You're blonde, female, and from what I gather, in decent shape. Based on multiple viewings of monster movies, you're prime food for werewolves.

Therefore we can be reassured he wasn't real.

You just have to apply logic to the thing.

Just giving you a hard time. I know nothing about the series, name just sounded like Buffy 2.0 (I know nothing about Buffy either).

Well, also the full moon was back on Wednesday, so Saturday would have been way late.

Not to worry!  I laughed when I saw that you guys had marked my message as sad ... it's funny because it's true. I'm fully aware that my enthusiasm for cheesy "genre" television is silly, lame, and maybe even " :( Sad ".

As for Buffy... that was actually a pretty great show.  Joss Whedon didn't just hatch out of an egg as a fully-formed Hollywood genius. Buffy was I think among his first major projects, and probably the one most key to building his name.  A couple of episodes (one was a musical, and the other had no sound at all) were particularly brilliant.  And I think a lot of girl-centric adventure programs that came afterward, like Veronica Mars and others probably wouldn't have existed if Buffy hadn't paved the way for them.  "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" could probably be considered Buffy's granddaughter.

Extremely strong reviews for this... it currently has the highest "Tomatometer" rating of any Netflix original production.

I was very surprised and impressed with Hill House, as I thought it could go either way depending on Netflix’s homebrew quality these days, but it’s easily the best horror TV show/anthology I’ve ever seen, and because of its length and ability to flesh out its characters, more compelling than many classic horror films as well.
(...)
The Haunting of Hill House works not because it’s particularly scary. I mean, it is, and there are a few all-time jump moments for the ages, but that’s not really the point. I’ve seen some comparing the show to being the “This Is Us” of horror, which may reference the jumps back and forward between the main characters as adults and children and their turbulent relationship with their parents, but really the comparison works because The Haunting of Hill House is a series of character studies about each of the individual Crain family members, the five siblings in particular.
(...)
Trust me, I am harder on Netflix originals than most, but as someone who watches a lot of streaming shows and a lot of horror, I can say that The Haunting of Hill House is one of my favorite things I’ve watched in a very long time. If you’re a fan of the genre, or even if you aren’t, I would absolutely give it a chance.

It sounds really good, but I am not good with horror. If it has some "all-time jump moments for the ages" I would probably have a heart attack.

Also I saw a website that has still images from the show and illustrates that if you look closely at the backgrounds you'll find that the main characters don't notice that they are being watched by mysterious figures in many scenes. Just some creepy dude standing in a shadow while they're talking, for example. That sort of stuff just freaks me out.

That's literally something right out of a South Park episode.

"I would say that my costume is pretty bad ass!"

"Dude, dressing up like Hitler is NOT bad ass."

"Why don't you go back to Endor, you stoopid Wookie."

"God bless America, you get in my office right now before anyone sees you.  You need to watch an educational video."

A woman in Oregon opens a box of Halloween decorations, and a handwritten note falls out:

Quote
"Sir," it began. "If you occassionally buy this product, please kindly send this letter to the World Human Right Organization. Thousands people here who are under the persicution of the Chinese Communist Party Government will thank and remember you forever."

That was the start of an extraordinary series of events. The man who wrote that note, and many others like it...

Canada's last witch trial.

No, it's nothing like The Crucible.  An obscure law is being used to prosecute a couple of "fortune tellers" to con clueless idiots out of thousands of dollars.

Quote
A law against pretending to practise witchcraft will soon be repealed in Canada. But that hasn't stopped local police from prosecuting those who use the "dark arts" to bilk people for thousands of dollars.

Two Canadian women have been charged with pretending to practise witchcraft, breaking a little-known law in Canada's criminal code that could soon be out the door.

The first charge was levied against Dorie "Madeena" Stevenson, a fortune teller from Milton, Ontario on 18 October after a months-long investigation.

She is accused of defrauding a client of C$60,000 ($45,700; £35,700) in cash and property.

A week later, Toronto psychic Samantha Stevenson was also arrested in a similar but unrelated investigation.

Police allege she convinced a man the only way to get rid of "evil spirits" in his home would be to sell it, and transfer the proceeds into her account.

I thought I'd share this picture, as our office always nails Halloween.  I'm the one dressed as a granny on vacation.  Because I'm pretty much there in real life already:

He’d still be busking even if he was an actual werewolf....   so he was definitely an actual busker.
