Your time would be better spent listening to Ah Um by Mingus on that stereo. But I don't think it has any lyrics to speak of, so it might be off-topic.

I put a Chromecast Audio on my old Denon amp with B&W speakers, got a subscription to Spotify, and I'm actually using the thing again. When I bought my house in 2004, I inherited the previous owner's vast collection of vinyl (it being that period when it was all worthless). He had good taste too, although a little heavy on the Frank Zappa. I was thrilled to find a nice old copy of the Getz/Gilberto "Girl from Ipanema" album, which always sounds wonderful on vinyl. Otherwise, however, I kind of prefer controlling the playlist from my phone and have no real use for it all. My own vinyl collection got water damaged after hiring an incompetent plumber in my previous house, but it was no big loss. I don't listen to what I used to listen to much anymore.

In terms of lyrics, I like it when they have lots of rhymes and when they form a complete sentence. The best example is "Just One of Those Things":

"If we thought a bit of the end of it when we started painting the town, we'd have been aware that our love affair was too hot not to cool down."

Speaking of rejuvenating old stereos, I tackled that project after years of having it stowed in a closet. All went well until I found the belt on the Pioneer turntable had disintegrated and I was having trouble finding one. Then one day I went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of asparagus. The width and length of the elastic band that held them together works perfectly.
I think I mentioned I am a Leonard Cohen fan and I have a vinyl of his first album. And I have listened to one of his last where I think he was anticipating the end of his time in this world might be coming into view.

In praise of hot bikini chicks

Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from Ipanema goes walking and
When she passes, each one she passes goes
ahhhh.
When she walks, she's like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle that
When she passes, each one she passes goes
Oooooh.

Dan Fogelberg's tribute to his dad

An only child alone and wild, a cabinet maker's son
His hands were meant for different work
And his heart was known to none
He left his home and went his lone and solitary way
And he gave to me a gift I know I never can repay
A quiet man of music denied a simpler fate
He tried to be a soldier once, but his music wouldn't wait
He earned his love through discipline, a thundering velvet hand
His gentle means of sculpting souls took me years to understand
The leader of the band is tired and his eyes are growing old
But his blood runs through my instrument and his song is in my soul
My life has been a poor attempt to imitate the man
I'm just a living legacy to the leader of the band

A few years ago I bought a gizmo and software that let me use my old Sansui belt drive to transfer some vinyl to digital. Very time consuming but worth it.

Randy Newman writes some pretty good lyrics.

Short people got no reason
To live
They got little hands
And little eyes
And they walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet
Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Round here

Nope. Tunein radio.

Weird.  Leader of the Band and City of New Orleans are in constant rotation on that channel.
