To a certain degree.

But I have sources for local rabbit, chicken, partridge, beef, pork, lamb, venison and moose.

I often buy from a quality butcher.

Look at Mr Fancy-Pants here, with fresh venison from a quality butcher!  :P

I buy my meat from a regular grocery store, and while I'm fairly confident it's not going to kill me, it's always in the back of my head that the hormones and drugs going into these animals might not be good for me.  I don't have the capacity to grow my own food, so at some point I have to take somebody's word for the safety of what I eat. But all said, I have pretty good confidence in the scientists and the food inspectors who are supposed to make our food system safe.
