Where’s the gin love up in this motherfucker!?

Try yourself some ungava gin made with botanicals from the Canadian north. It’s sunshine in a bottle! Juniper forward but it has an interesting woody and tart underbelly from Labrador tea and rosehips.

While you’re at it, New Brunswick distillery Fils du Roy has a gin aged in oak barrels. Thuya Silver has the vanilla and caramel spice that you would associate with a fine bourbon but is unmistakably gin. If you can get it, get it.

I’m on mobile so I can’t copy a decent pic, but look into it. It’s worth trying if you like gin.

Godfather - equal parts whiskey & amaretto, on the rocks.

I got really drunk NYE 2007 drinking those and the hangover was so bad, it took me 13 years to have another one.

Tonight, I say yum.  But to only one.

I had a similar experience with vodka when I was 18. I still get a weird reaction when I taste vodka.

I also had a similar experience with Burger King. I think I caught a virus while flying or passing through the airport, and when we got to the hotel a nearby Burger King was the only thing that was open that late.  I was puking sick shortly after, and even though I don't think it was because of Burger King, my stomach still feels weird when I see a Burger King sign.  I think this sort of association must be how our ancestors learned "do not eat those weird-looking berries".

Made sangria out of some leftover Spanish wine-in-a-box I took camping last weekend.

1/2 box of red wine
cup + of brandy
A bit of fresh squeezed orange juice
Some sugar
apples, peaches, blueberries

and let it sit overnight in the fridge.

I like to serve it with a bit of soda and ice.  So good.  Always tastes like another on a hot day!

1) Actually, Godfather is not THAT drink for me.  That's Bacardi white.  Even the slightest glance at the bottle makes me shudder.  Me and Godfather just needed a break.
2) Squid, your sangria that sounds heavenly.

You people have had months to sit at home and make up cocktail recipes...  nothing.

Here’s a nice one...

2 oz gin
1 oz lime juice
Simple syrup
Basil
Watermelon
Pinch of salt

Muddle the salt, basil and watermelon in a shaker.  Add the other ingredients and shake it like fück!!

Strain over ice.  Garnish with a chunk of watermelon and a basil leaf.

I have been focused on tiki style drinks.  Fruit juices, orgeat (an aromatic almond syrup) and rum, plus some experimention with brandy, Campari, Triple Sec, or other ingredients. I have been using Lemon Hart "Blackpool" spiced rum and "Old Sam" Demerara rum.

Speaking of gin.... there's an Aussie youtuber who makes drinks. He threw together one called the Green Ghost today that looked pretty damn good:

2 oz gin
0.5 oz green chartreuse
0.5 oz lime juice

I do love me some green chartreuse, so I think I need to try this one out.
