After stripping my patio of old paint and chopping wood all day, my old body is sore....

In addition to Vitamin ‘I’ (Ibuprofen), classic margaritas should make the pain go away!

2oz tequila
1oz triple sec
3/4 oz fresh lime juice

Shake with ice...   pour in cocktail glass over ice with salted rim.

Cheers!

I shift sometimes between salt rim and non salt rim, but the contents below the rim are what it's all about.

Agreed...  1st one has salt...  after that, sans salt.

I hope you're using Cointreau for your triple sec. It makes a world of difference. Also a good silver tequila for margaritas is best.

A friend bought me a great bottle of rum...    i dislike straight rum.

Solution:  classic daiquiri.

2oz rum (darkish?...  not light).
1/4 oz simple syrup (i use maple syrup, and it’s great!!).
3/4 oz lime juice.

Great drink.

I have rum, maple syrup, and a fresh lime within about 8 feet from me. I'll get busy and make two. One for m'lady lest she assume I'm sipping before dinner without cause.

Now I must ask, who among us have been to the Labrador coast, and sipped their way to become a Cardinal?

These days the only mixed drinks I tend to make are manhattans or rusty nails. Most often I just drink my whiskies  neat.

OK, in case you are heading for the east coast anytime soon I will tell you how to become a Cardinal, in case it comes up. Now pay attention I'm only gonna go thru this once: First of all you pour a glass of pure single malt, then,

You state, " I drink to the health of Cardinal Puff for the first time" then you clap your hands once, slap your right hand on your left elbow and then vice versa, then you stand up and sit down once, then you take a sip of the whiskey.
Next you declare "I drink to the health of Cardianl Puff for the second time." Then multiply all the previous times two. Then you announce "I drink to the health of Cardianal Puff, for the third and final time" Everything times 3.
Simple enough eh? But if you happen to F it up in any way, you must refill the glass and start over. I seem to remember vaguely it was a place called Maakovik where I learned this.

Hosted a “whisky night” last night.  Broke out a few bottles from my collection.  Bunnahabhain 18 is one of my new favourites!    A friend brought over a Talisker 10 year old.  Very nice.  A peaty scotch.

Nice selection. My favourite right now is Aberlour A’bundadh. I’ve got some from batch 59. It’s a cask strength scotch so comes in around 60% but has a fantastic dried fruit taste to it that is complemented by the spice of the alcohol. Great stuff imho.

That’s still my all-time favourite.

If you’d like a good “value” scotch that has a sherry cask finish, try Glen Garioch 12 year old.  We get it here for 62 bucks.

Prices are different all over Canada. I'll have to check it out.

I recently picked up anCnoc 12 and Glenkinchie 12. If you want some good value scotches that aren't peaty/smoky these were a tasty pickups.

I absolutely love the peat/smoke ones, so Ardbeg Uigeadail is my jam. I love how you take a sip and the oily smoke lingers for about 10 mins on your palate. Laphroaig Quarter Cask was also a decent peat smoke one for a more affordable price than the oogy.

Actually, have you tried the Ardbeg Drum committee? It's finished in rum casks, so apparently it has some banana notes.

Tonight, I'm drinking tequila with my kids' juice box orange juice.  Don't judge me.  Ok, maybe a little.

But the size is actually perfect for a double with a little ice.

Alright lots of ice and I can still taste the small driblets of poison but it's that or I go line up outside the local Thrifty's with my makeshift niqab to get the good juice.

Not on Good Friday Eve.
