Jesus...when did I become the drink snob? That’s even funnier. I hardly ever drink these days.

Don't worry, Michael. It's ok.

I invented some drinks this summer.  One was a big glass of ice-cold ice tea made from generic Superstore powdered ice tea mix, with a hefty dose of vermouth rosso added. A second was a big glass of ice-cold lemonade made from Country Time powdered lemonade mix, with a shot of Campari.  Another was a big glass of ice-cold lemonade made from Country Time powdered lemonade mix, with a shot of gin.

That just sounds like someone who has to put booze in everything. :D

I don't put booze in everything!  Just this morning I had generic wheat squares with milk and no booze. I could have turned my breakfast into a Paralyzer, but I didn't. Because I'm not an alcoholic.  I can stop any time I want! In fact I stopped yesterday at 11pm and didn't start again until 5pm today.  That's 18 hours!  18 hours!  That's nearly a whole day!

Also, I think my summer drinks have real potential. They just need to be fancied up with non-powdered ingredients, garnish, and of course nicknames. The lemonade with Campari shall be served with lemon slices and a tiny umbrella and shall be known as a "Laguna Sunrise".  The lemonade with gin is basically just a Tom Collins, so I guess there's not much that needs to be done with that.

The ice tea with vermouth can be called the Aunt Millie.  It gets a fictional back-story about a notorious 1891 garden-party, a collision between the maid carrying the tea service and the bartender, and Aunt Millie's stubborn refusal to let anything go to waste.

...

kimmy, I like you. Don’t ruin my opinion. This drink should be stirred.

Final Touch Yarai 13.5-Oz. Mixing Pitcher with a Hawthorne Strainer https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00J8IVBNA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_YcDdAbJE6TEC2

You won’t be disappointed and the ladies will think you’re fancy. :)

Haha it’s not a commandment. You should generally only shake things with citrus or egg in them. They say gin bruises, so I joke that only animals shake gin.

Sigh....

Don’t shake gin. For the love of god.....

But at least that’s the kind of drink that you’re supposed to shake because of the lemon juice.

I am teasing, cyber.  I do appreciate the help and information. Especially the Yarai pitcher.

Here's something to keep in mind if you're ever "thirsty" in the middle of a desert. I was doing a job in a camp about 400 miles south of Khartoum so me years back. A lot of material came by truck from Juba, and arrangements were made for a contingent of beer to be included. During part of my time there the source dried up for a period. We were sitting in our quansit hut/ bar lamenting the absence of beverages beyond coke when one of the men who had working there for some time said don't worry, I have a backup plan. Not long after one of the locals knocked at the door and entered with a couple of jars of what I learned was referred to as "Flash". He set them down and the Dutchman who had made the call paid him. The locals were basically nomadic cattle herders who had figured out how to generate a substance that was as clear as vodka, and could kick like a mule. Before the payment was made though, a sample of the substance was poured out directly on the wooden slab we called the bar. A match was struck and the Dutchman observed the flame, which was hard to see. It was explained if you ever got some and it burned with any hint of orange flame, don't buy it or drink it. I was not quite sure how they made it, but I said a few hail Mary's and took a slug. With enough coke it wasn't too bad, especially when you remembered where you were. I was however glad when the beer reappeared.

I've been down with the flu.  My drunk culture has been put on hold and needs a few more days to recuperate.

So I read your description thinking it would help me for burning man.  And yet, no.  If I'm thirsty there, I just go to the bar so...
