Why ?

Are you Scandanavian ?  Did you meet a Scandanavian ?

Otherwise, a dangerous amount of experimentation would be required to get you here.

Shaken, not stirred, garnish with curl of orange rind, or not, and enjoy!

kimmy, I like you. Don’t ruin my opinion. This drink should be stirred.

In my house, drunk culture comes with sex culture.  Just saying.

Yes, I think I've mentioned my Swedish heritage many times. I'm exploring Scandinavian traditions. I've got akvavit, I've got straw goats, and this weekend I'm planning on invading and plundering the apartment next door.

Truthfully the only reason I picked shaken is that I don't have the coil strainer. Also, I used to just shake everything when I was bartending. People liked saying "shaken, not stirred".  Maybe it's all James Bond's fault. In the future, I will strive to do better.

...why would somebody joke about having Swedish ancestry?  There's not really anything inherently funny about it. If I'd said I came from a remote geographically isolated community (sounds a bit like Kim City, actually), or a weird cult (mom's side of the family, come to think of it), or an insular community where outsiders are viewed with suspicion and electronics are believed to be powered by evil spirits (mom's people again)... that stuff is funny.  All that stuff amuses me tremendously.  But my Nordic roots? Not funny.

I was skeptical, but if this will help me get some tail, I'm buying one.

I'm not sure I'm brave enough for that yet.  Dad's sister made lutefisk for us one time when we went to visit at Christmas one time... it was ok, but the house smelled funny for a long time afterward. I am not sure if the smell eventually went away, or if my olfactory senses got desensitized to it after a while.

Anyone tried Hakirl? Not as bad as I was lead to believe if you don’t mind ammonia. The local Brevinnin schnapps shots that follow are pretty good though.

That sounds pretty terrifying as well.  Maybe if I get really loaded up with akvavit I will have the courage to try it some time.
